Tickled Pink
Seems like every time I turn around lately, people are talking about pink and it’s not just for little girl’s rooms anymore. Using pink as an accent color can add a little fun and whimsy to any room. Here are some photos to inspire you. With so many shades to choose from you can certainly find a color that will tickle you pink!

HBA Chili Cook Off Pictures
The Texas Hill Country Chapter of the Interior Design Society participated in the Home Builders Association 2nd Annual Chili Cook off on Friday. Our booth was a great success thanks to everyone who pitched in, especially the good folks at ABC Blind and Drapery. Our chili wasn’t so bad either! We were told that we came within two points of placing in the competition. Yay IDS!

Seeing Red
The color red can add passion as well as pizzazz to a room while demanding attention. It can call up emotions from rage to love while at the same time give a feeling of warmth. It is not often used in large areas for bedrooms as it is a stimulating color, but used to highlight and create the element of romance, love and passionate luxury through the use of drapery, bed linen and accessories. Red can be used in small or large amounts in accent pieces, carpets, upholstery fabric and in window treatments. You will not only find reds in fabric but also in stain in wood products. You might also find high gloss red as well as red metallic finishes. Floral arrangements with a touch of red along with pillows, vases and throws can all be used to tie the room together. Instead of painting a room red, paint just one wall as your accent wall, which will invigorate the room as well as give it a feeling of warmth.

Team Themed Super Bowl Treats
The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers will be in Texas this weekend to play in the Super Bowl. If you are like me and were not lucky enough to get tickets, you are probably going to be watching the big game at home or a friend’s house. Snacks are always the star of a Super Bowl party, so here are a couple of “team themed” treats to impress your guests.
Steele City Sausage Wontons
½ lb hot sausage
½ lb sweet sausage
1 bottle Hidden Valley Ranch dressing
1/3 cup chopped onion
2 oz chopped black olives
3 cups Monterey Jack/Colby cheese
1 package wonton wrappers
Salt to taste
You will need small mini muffin pans for baking. Mix sausages together and brown in frying pan. Set aside. Set oven to 350 degrees. Add wonton wrappers to muffin pans. Bake for 3 minutes. Remove from oven. Mix sausage and remaining ingredients together. Put spoonful amounts in wontons and bake for 7 minutes.
Wisconsin Cheddar Beer Fondue
1 lb sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1 tbsp flour
1 ½ tsp dry mustard
Dash of cayenne (or add a dash of hot sauce to the melted mixture)
¾ cup beer
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

In bowl, combine cheese, flour, mustard, and ground cayenne. Mix to blend well. In fondue pot combine beer and Worcestershire sauce. Set temperature at 375 degrees ad heat until bubbling. Gradually add cheese mixture and stir constantly until cheese melts and mixture is smooth, about 5 minutes. Reduce temperature to 200 degrees and serve with crusty bread cubes.
